Could a 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' fan help me out?

I've seen the movie loads of times and there is one thing I've never
understood. The scene where Vinny Jones' character Chris is bashing
that guy over the head with the top of the sun bed. Well Chris
eventually says "you can go home in a plastic bag tonight John" which
I would assume means John is going to die? But then Chris says "you
owe what you owe and by the time this tan has faded you want to have
paid" (sorry if the quotes aren't 100% correct). I've always been
confused by what he means? He obviously wants John to pay the money he
owes but what does the plastic bag comment mean? Anyone care to shed
some light?
